The professional painter was familiar with a natural-looking formal arrangement of the flower group by a stream that winds through the landscape. The two paintings appear effortlessly mastered down to the last detail. The peonies are rendered fragrant, and the green foliage is elegantly grouped around the magnificent blossoms.
